I admit I have a penchant for books written by journalists: not only they know how to write (compared for example to academics and professors), but they also know how to research stories and tell weird anecdotes: my top three for this year are indeed written by journalists.
Unintentionally (or maybe it was my subconscious), four of them have the word “War” in their title…
And for the umpteenth time in a row, I haven't managed to read all the books I had in the pipeline at the beginning of the year: I’m definitely a follower of the Japanese art of tsundoku (積ん読), the practice of buying books and letting them pile up unread on shelves, floors or nightstands. Believe it or not, I have more books waiting on my desk (58, not counting graphic novels, comics and fiction, …) than those reviewed here (26, which is not however the total I read in 2023).
And despite the pile on my desk, I’m always looking for new suggestions, so feel free to add them here (but do check the last two slides with some titles I already own). [Note: the cover icons in the pdf file have a link to the book on Amazon.com]
Anyway, here is the file: Book Club 2024
Happy holidays to everyone!
